Math Curriculum Review Update
On Friday, February 23, 2024, nine committee participants met in the Copper River School District Office Boardroom to conduct their final review of math materials. This review included the top three finalists from the initial review of five different math programs.
All five programs were evaluated against a rubric. State standards, mathematical practices, tools and functionality, and assessments were all looked at with great detail and ranked in the rubric. A non-evaluating participant totaled the rubrics to eliminate two of the five choices. The vendors for the remaining three choices were each given one hour each to answer questions the committee may have had.
After the committee heard from each vendor, they made a decision by vote to choose what would best serve the students of the Copper River School District for grades K-8 and 9-12.
At this time the committee is recommending Curriculum Associates iReady Math for grades K-8 and Savvas enVision for Grades 9-12 in the areas of Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra II.
The committee considered the teachers’, parents’, and students’ perspectives in all review aspects.
The Math Committee will recommend iReady Math for grades K-8 and Savvas enVision for Grades 9-12 to the Copper River School District Board.
